One Child’s Story, A Common Challenge in Madagascar
When Steffy’s son Arnel was around 12 months old, she began noticing that he tired easily during play, had low energy, and seemed to get sick more often than other children. By the time he was 18 months old, she decided to take him to a local pediatrician, who screened him for iron deficiency. Using the Iron Intake Questionnaire (IronQ), the pediatrician identified Arnel as being at risk for iron deficiency and provided Steffy with practical guidance on improving his diet and increasing his iron intake. Equipped with a clearer understanding of his nutritional needs, Steffy now feels more confident in supporting Arnel’s health with a richer, more balanced diet.
